"The White Man's Burden"

Take up the White Man's burden--
Send forth the best ye breed--
Go bind your sons to exile
To serve your captives' need;
To wait in heavy harness,
On fluttered folk and wild--
Your new-caught, sullen peoples,
Half-devil and half-child.

Take up the White Man's burden--
In patience to abide,
To veil the threat of terror
And check the show of pride;
By open speech and simple,
An hundred times made plain
To seek another's profit,
And work another's gain.

Take up the White Man's burden--
The savage wars of peace--
Fill full the mouth of Famine
And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest
The end for others sought,
Watch sloth and heathen Folly
Bring all your hopes to nought.

Take up the White Man's burden--
No tawdry rule of kings,
But toil of serf and sweeper--
The tale of common things.
The ports ye shall not enter,
The roads ye shall not tread,
Go mark them with your living,
And mark them with your dead.

Take up the White Man's burden--
And reap his old reward:
The blame of those ye better,
The hate of those ye guard--
The cry of hosts ye humour
(Ah, slowly!) toward the light:--
"Why brought he us from bondage,
Our loved Egyptian night?"

Take up the White Man's burden--
Ye dare not stoop to less--
Nor call too loud on Freedom
To cloke your weariness;
By all ye cry or whisper,
By all ye leave or do,
The silent, sullen peoples
Shall weigh your gods and you.

Take up the White Man's burden--
Have done with childish days--
The lightly proferred laurel,
The easy, ungrudged praise.
Comes now, to search your manhood
Through all the thankless years
Cold, edged with dear-bought wisdom,
The judgment of your peers!

The reason that the poem is titled "The White Man's Burden" is that it talks about the time of American colonalization.

the scramble for africa is also known as the race for africa.The scramble for africa was also an imperialist move by different countries to the invade and to take over territory of africa.The scramble for africa was also known as the race of africa.

The countries that attempted to control territory in africa were berlin,britain,france,and germany.The reason these countries were atracted to africa was because africa was untouched by imperialism or civilization also racial and economikc reasons.
the africans were dominated so easily because the disadvantage of weapons,communication,and supply europeans had the upper hand in the matter.
It affected the africans in many ways such as comunication,they learned to spaeak english and other languages also they are more civilized,they now have more material weapons.
The scramble for africa began 1881.

Japan, is an archipelago due to the fact that it's made up of many islands. Before 1853, Japan was a country of isolation. This meant that Japan had no contact or tried to make any contact with other countries outside of Japan. They believed that they were superior to any other race in the world. What they did not know was that they were behind everyone in technology. It took over two decade for Japan to finally stop the isolation of their country.
In 1853, the U.S. and Japan finally signed a trading treaty. It wasn't easy at the begining. Matthew Perry took steamships to Japan in order for the Japanese to open their ports for trading. The Japanese were shocked of the technology that the Americans had. They were shocked to see that the Americans had technology such as steam to power their ships. They were also shocked to see the rifles and cannons that the Americans had. The U.S. believed that the Japanese ports would be great for American ships to stop and reload in food, water, and coal.

The Europeans faced a lot hardships as they explored Africa hardships like: storms, sickness,death,starvation,and their supplies.
I don't really know because it is the largest and nature created it to be the third largest lake, plus the part of the river that is a lake was actually conquered by the English, and thats how they got Lake Victoria.
The Europeans had an advantage of the hand over African people because they gave them gifts, had an African tribe, and the king of one tribe became friends with the Europeans.
They were able to conquer Africa because they had stronger arms(guns)than the Africans

Karl Marx and the Industrial Revolution

karl marx felt that middle class workers were been treated unfairly , they were working long hours to get almost the same amount of money.
karl marx hated the industrial revolution and the capitalism, he didnt like the industrial revolution for the fact that he thought it was good for the high class but not for the low and middle class people haded to work more hour , hours that theym wasnt supose to just to try to get the salary more higher but it didnt really work.

Karl Marx is commonly called the "Father of Communism." Marx believed that if goods could be equally distributed among people, things could be be successful. Under Communism, no one person was above another. As the title suggests, everyone was common. Karl Marx's ideas quickly spread and many European nations soon followed Communism.

Nationalism

Nationalism it has a meaning of hate. Hate of other culture, or religion.Nationalism started a very long time ago. Well one time nationalism happened in one continent that was one big country, but everybody had a different language so they separated all the nations in that country and made it into 51 countries because they had different cultures. In Europe each country that was separated have their own land which has the same language in that country each country has a different language for instance Russia speaks Russian, and Romania speaks Romanian, and Germany speaks German. Nationalism is a way of offending somebody or hating someone by their nationality, culture, and religion. Nationalism is a bad thing because you really hurt somebodies feelings, or if it is A country with nationalism, and another without nationalism, it will cause a war between those countries.Nationalism is really sad I feel sorry for the people that use nationalism.

Karl Marx and Communism

Karl Marx is best known not as a philosopher but as a revolutionary communist, whose works inspired the foundation of many communist regimes in the 20th century. It is hard to think of many who have had as much influence in the creation of the modern world.

Karl Marx was born in Treir, Germany in 1818He was Jewish but his father (Hirsal Marx) decided to abandon his Jewish faith.His father(Hirsal Marx) died in 1836. Now Marx had to earn their own living ,and decided to Become a university lecturer. Marx actually traveled a lot after he finished his doctoral degree.He traveled because he was going to be arrested. He was actually running away. they wanted to arrest him because of socialism. As soon as he herd he was going to get arrested he married his girlfriend and then ran to other countries. Back then part of Europe was Communist. a lot of people was arrested for socialism

simom bolivar was one of the main and important persons in south america. he fought for the independence of colombia,ecuador,bolivia panama,peru and venezuela . people called simon bolivar by '' el libertador'' which means the liberator. another name that simon bolivar was knows it was by the George washington of south america, he was knows by this names because he really helped alot of people in south america.

-Robespierre and The Reign of Terror-

-"Liberty cannot be secured unless criminals lose there heads" this is what Robespierre said. The middle class and the poor class had more power than they ever had because things in France were more democratic. With the new power people went a little crazy with it ,that's when there was a period of time called the Reign of Terror. Robespierre took over with his power he just started cutting peoples heads off. For instance there was this gang called the Jacobins they went around looking for people that were connected with the old regime cutting there heads off with the famous guillotine. They even killed louis the 16th finding him for treason. He changed the days of the week and got rid of sunday saying that it was too religious so all the church's were closed. The Reign of Terror ended when Napoleon Bonaparte stepped in and brought everything that Robespierre destroyed to peace once again.

-The scientific revolution did not happen all at once, or did it begin at any set date. Realistically speaking, the scientific revolution that we associate with Galileo, Francis Bacon, and Isaac Newton, began much earlier. You can push the date back to the work of Nicolaus Copernicus at the beginning of the 17th century, or Leonardo da Vinci in the middle of the 15th. Even then, you haven't gone back far enough and you haven't included all the factors that contributed to the set of epistemological transformations that we call the scientific revolution.

The Scientific Method is the way we prove all our conclusions through studying and examining until only facts remain. Before the scientific revolution, scientist would come to conclusions before facts and belief before examination-

Darwin theory said that all living thing were related.this theory sounded kind funny ,because of the fat that it saids a banana and a bird can be realtive? he though over time ''mutations'' accumalate and then pretty much become an totally different organism. Darwins therorys are a natural selection of an taking advantage slight successive variations. V.S creation. Darwins theroies were really belived to be B.S due to the 20th centry when things started to envolve more. Studies found that all these Dawins belive were untrue, some felt so strongly about darwins theory to the point that this held a ''great debate''.This was good for scientific times it helped us really come to an conculsion of how life and organisms procces on earth

-Geoncentric theory-

-The Geoncentric theory which stated that the earth was the center of the universe. The greeks believed that the planets moved around the sun and that the earth was motionless because noone felt the earth moving.

-Heliocentric theory-

-the Heliocentric theory. In this theory it was believed that the earth did move around the sun and so did the other planets. The distance between the planets from the sun were determined by the size of the loops.

The french revolution began in 1789 with the meeting of the States General in May. this was 13 years after the american revolution. On July 14 of that same year, the Bastille was stormed, in October, Louis XVI(16) and the Royal Family were removed from Versailles to Paris. The King attempted, unsuccessfully, to flee Paris for Varennes in June 1791. A Legislative Assembly sat from October 1791 until September 1792, when, in the face of the advance of the allied armies of Austria, Holland, Prussia, and Sardinia, it was replaced by the National Convention, which proclaimed the Republic. The King was brought to trial in December of 1792, and executed on January 21, 1793. In January of 1793 the revolutionary government declared war on Britain, a war for world dominion which had been carried on, with short intermissions, since the beginning of the reign of William and Mary, and which would continue for another twenty-two years.
